Why Watch Harry Potter™ Live in Concert
The second installment of the wildly successful Harry Potter series, the Chamber of Secrets is suffused with iconic soundtracks composed by the legendary John Williams. The air of mystery that hangs throughout the film is almost entirely a result of the music.
Founded in 2005 by conductor Sergey Smbatyan, the Symphony Orchestra of Armenia was conferred the title of ‘State Orchestra’ by the Armenian Republic for its incredible dedication dedication to the art. The orchestra went on to perform in innumerable countries including Germany, France, China, Lebanon, and Russia amongst others, rising to become one of the most professional orchestras in the region. Today, they are an integral part of some of the biggest international festivals such as the Moscow Easter Festival and the Young Classic Wratislavia. This revival of the Harry Potter orchestral score is certain to be an entertaining performance at the Dubai Opera.
A progression of recognisable minor chords that conclude in an irresistibly unorthodox chord derived from the Lydian mode sets the stage for an enchanting performance. Williams frequently uses notes that are foreign to the underlying minor scale to bring out a dreamy sense of wonder in many parts of the score. From tense compositions like ‘Dueling the Basilisk’, which make prodigious use of french horns and cymbals, to ‘Reunion of Friends’, which brings out the essence of the familiar major scale while also maintaining its own unique flavour, the Harry Potter soundtracks are replete with passion, drama, and unparalleled magic!
