Meet your tour guide and your tour group at the dedicated meeting point, which just happens to be a hotspot for traditional Turkish delicacies! Buy yourself some tasties and use the restroom facilities before moving along to the Topkapi Palace. Deemed as the heart of the Ottoman Empire, this palace is sprinkled with low buildings, courtyards, pavilions, and terraced gardens. Walk along the outer terraces and soak up the beauty of the flowerbeds and the view of the Golden Horn from here. Continue walking, while your guide filters myth from reality with lesser-known facts about the palace.
You’ll visit the Treasury section before continuing onto the Harem. Once housing hundreds of war captives, you can picture what their lives looked like, where they lived and were educated, while you walk through the hallway to the courtyard of the concubines, and then onto the Queen Mother’s Rooms. Gasp at the cupboard doors inlaid with mother-of-pearl and tortoiseshell. On your way to the harem, you’ll see ancient Iznik tiles with verses from the Kuran inscribed on them, embellished with elaborate floral designs. Your tour ends with a visit to the holy relics and the imperial kitchens!
