Very easy and straightforward booking, with clear joining instructions for the Meteora tour. Our guide Konstantina and driver Dimitris were both excellent. Well timed stops for refreshments and comfort breaks. Excellent choice of restaurant for lunch. Comfortable new Mercedes minibus. The site at Meteora was magnificent: a natural wonder! The only thing I didn't like was the fact that women visitors at the monasteries were required to wear an additional long skirt even if they were already wearing full-length trousers: a very antiquated and discriminatory attitude towards women!

The excursion was really good. The down side was that it rained all day. The views weren't so good except for little glimpses through the clouds every now and then. The coach bus was comfortable and brand new with WiFi. Tour guide was lovely and very upbeat with the moody weather. She said we were lucky to see the monasteries in these conditions. and the driver was amazing in the wet steep mountain curves. The monestaries are beautiful and impressive so well worth the day to visit them. Was not too pleased with the lunch bill from the over priced tourist restaurant we were expected to eat lunch in. My bill as a single person was over 44 euros!! Outrageous. Be sure to ask the prices of everything before ordering lunch!!

Thoroughly enjoyable experience! Really enjoyed his visit to Meteora. We were able to easily recognise our tour guide by their clothing. The tour bus was on schedule throughout the trip, which gave us ample time to explore and enjoy the visits to the monasteries. Great views, great guide, and great food. Would recommend it.

A natural rock formation in central Greece, the Meteora is home to one of the largest built complexes of Eastern Orthodox Monasteries in the world. A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988, Meteora is a must-see destination.

The experience starts early in the morning, and you will be picked up between 8 and 8:30 AM from Thessaloniki. The 230-kilometer journey will take approximately 3 hours, including a 20-minute break.

You will reach Meteora around 11:30 and see the complex of rocks firsthand! The 6 remaining monasteries are a sight to behold, standing atop massive natural pillars. You will get to visit two of these six monasteries, depending on the exact schedule for the day. Each of the 6 monasteries has its own attractions and guarantees to leave you with a unique experience.

The tour bus will make a short stop at a viewpoint, where you can enjoy some stunning panoramic views of the Holy Monasteries. The sight of these majestic natural structures and monasteries is a confluence of mystery and awe, and promises to take your breath away!

Next up on the itinerary is a traditional Greek lunch at the Kalambaka area while enjoying the unforgettable sights of Meteora. You will depart back to Thessaloniki at 3:30 PM.

Important Information

Every Monday we visit the monasteries of Barlaam and Rousanou, every Wednesday and Sunday the monasteries of Agios Stefanos and Barlaam, and every Friday the monasteries of Rousanou and Agios Stefanos.
Men wearing shorts, and women wearing sleeveless sweatshirts are not allowed to enter the monastery.
Please wear comfortable shoes, since there will be a fair amount of walking.
