Cyrano de Bergerac Tickets

Written by the eminent French playwright, Edmond Rostand, Cyrano de Bergerac was the pinnacle of neo-romanticism in the late 19th-century. Adapted by Martin Crimp for the West End stage, the production continues to stay true to the original story. Produced by Jamie Lloyd Company, fresh off the Broadway transfer of Betrayal, Cyrano de Bergerac promises to aptly capture Rostand’s classic romanticism in a new light.

Cyrano will be portrayed by the well-known James McAvoy. With a Golden Globe, two BAFTA and three Olivier Award nominations to his name, McAvoy has established himself as one of the leading British actors in the past decade. His most famous movies are Split and The Last King of Scotland, for which he won critical acclaim across the world. His most famous role is as Professor Charles Xavier in multiple X-men and Marvel films.

Director Jamie Lloyd has been hailed as one of the leading proponents of theater for young audiences and has been credited for introducing theater to diverse audiences. He is known for wonderfully capturing the angst and desire in his characters and perfectly using the design elements of lighting, sound and the set to support the theme of the production.

The Story

Cyrano, a soldier, is a man of many talents. A skilled duellist, a lovestruck poet and an accomplished musician, Cyrano is self-conscious of his abnormally large nose, which makes him doubt himself. Cyrano falls in love with a beautiful and intelligent woman by the name of Roxanne. His doubts, however, get the better of him, and prevents him from expressing his love to Roxanne He is convinced that his perceived ugliness would prevent him from being loved by any person.

When Roxanne tells Cyrano about her love for the handsome and young Christian, Cyrano is heartbroken. Furthermore, unaware of his feelings for her, Roxanne extracts a promise from him to keep Christian safe.

Will Cyrano go to any length to keep his promise to Roxanne? Can he overcome his self-consciousness and confess his true feelings to Roxanne?
