We were pleased to find only small groups were allowed in the experience, at any one time. Whilst it's called 'behind the Trevi,' it's not actually behind the fountain. The site, for us, was more interesting as it showed dwellings of people living in the area & renovations too. The audio hand set was highly informative & allowed us to understand the history of the site. The artifacts on display were wonderful. All-in- all we spent a wonderful hour

The place and the staff were awesome. I was just disappointed about how small the place was, that it was not directly under the Trevi Fountain(I guess I misunderstood) and about how short it was the tour ( took us 10 minutes ). But it was a good experience overall.

Interesting experience. I was not familiar with the underground of the Trevi Fountain. They can be visited in half an hour. They give audioguide included in the price of the visit and it is very useful

Il posto e interessante, e ben documentato sui cartelli, l'audio guida in francese e corretta. Però dato che i gruppi sono piccoli e la visita corta, la presenza di una persona che risponde alle domande sarebbe apprezzabile.

This was a great experience and I really love the incredible Trevi fountain, loved by so many thousands of people. The experience was really great.

What to Expect

Discover what lies below the streets of central Rome on an audio-guided tour. Step through the doors of time with photographs, 3D reconstructions, videos and other such informative sources that will let you experience what it was like in the days of yore.

Descend 9 meters below street level to explore the VIcus Caprarius, the City of Water. Located at a few paces from the Trevi Fountain, the building complex was unearthed by the archaeological surveys carried out between 1999 and 2001 during the renovation of the former Cinema Trevi, by the Archaeological Authority of Rome. A complete restoration and an attentive enhancement of the archaeological site that extends over an area of around 350 square meters between Via San Vincenzo and Vicolo Puttarello has been carried out, and you can safely explore these ruins and see what it was like in the ancient Roman times. Perfect for art and history lovers, this tour will give you a glimpse into the silent past.
