User Reviews for NEWSical the MusicalBrowse Product
Although funny, NEWSical the Musical does not manage to make a mark maybe because of its topical genre. But the plot was crisp, to the point and comic for those who enjoy subtle satire. If you're into SNL (with a great background score, of course) then this should be your pick.
Yes, NEWSical the Musical is a comedy - but it is nothing like the other comedies we've grown up watching. The musical makes use of random cheap jokes to sell the play, but surprisingly they're well received by the audience. The intimate setting makes it a show worth spending on. My husband and I had a great night at this show.
Politics is not always serious, and that's exactly what NEWSical the Musical wants to portray. However, amidst its silly, stupid humour and uninteresting punchlines, the real purpose of the show is lost. Yes, it makes pretty good points, but you're probably not going to notice them because of the cheap humour. Not worth it!
NEWSical the Musical briefs you to the funny side of today's politics, pop culture and world news. You don't have to be so serious all the time! It's meant to be silly, and I'm shocked how most of the reviews don't agree with this. Please, my only suggestion, is to keep an open mind while watching this musical.
My wife and I watched NEWSical the Musical and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. You require to be a little more liberal to be able to enjoy this play. The musical goes on like a typical spoof that is bound to make you crack up every once in a while, if not regularly. Don't miss!
Rib-tickling hilarious. Some may find the show offensive as the views tend to clash... but barring a few moments, we had a good laugh through the show.
What a refreshing show! I, of all people, am often tired of watching stupid, serious news on television every now and then. NEWSical the Musical allows you to enjoy news like never before. The plot keeps updating as per the current events go on, so you're going to have a brand new show every time you walk in.
A big, glitzy banner but the jokes were unbearably crass and embarrassing. Don't know what we paid our money for... perhaps for its pointless jokes and corny puns.
As the other reviews suggest, NEWSical the Musical is really light. Like, extremely light. You're probably going to end up laughing, but only if you're not stuck up. Sure, the comedy is cheap, but it is definitely enjoyable.
Staying true to the reviews I've read previously, NEWSical was absolutely rubbish and a waste of time. I expected it to turn out to be a great news satire but it ended up becoming a sketchy compilation of terrible jokes. Don't go!
DON'T walk in having really high comedy expectations from NEWSical the Musical!!! You've been warned. Your idols are going to be mocked, you're not going to watch any 'real' news and the jokes are almost so-so. Nothing fancy about the theatre as well. The overall experience was a ho-hum. Wouldn't recommend going since you can easily watch SNL sitting within the four walls of your home.
Several people are bashing the play, but I enjoyed NEWSical as it tackles every politcal milestone that has happened in the past year with a hilarious approach. Apart from some forced humor, the show did okay.
Guys, it is a topical comedy sketch... really can't believe those who are expecting it to be all intellectual and comic beyond limits. Enjoy what the play is meant for! NEWSical the Musical keeps updating its content and really brings out the lighter side of news, something that we've never seen before. I won't say it's recommended, but you should definitely drop in if you want a good laugh.
Personally found it difficult to stay engaged while watching the show. it often looses track midway when it makes terrible jokes out of nothing. However, if you go with an open mind, you might find yourself enjoying the show.
My girl friends and I had a great night out laughing at the expense of political leaders and some of our favourite celebrities. It's all about having an open mind and enjoy the silliness. NEWSical the Musical is a spoof and it stays true to its name.
