As grutas de Batu são fantásticas, adorei mesmo. Mas segundo ponto - a fábrica de batik é uma desilusão. Não estão interessados, apenas uma história rápida de 3 minutos sobre pintura e depois têm de ir à loja deles. É a paragem para fazer compras, não para passear. Preferia passar mais tempo nas grutas. Não percebo porque perdi o meu tempo na loja de batik. A visita guiada durou cerca de 2 horas: 1,30 hora nas grutas de Batu e 15 minutos na loja. Trinta minutos para o trânsito.

My tour guide was very helpful, kind and knowlegeable, connected to all the areas that we travelled to. I learned about the different cultures, history, religions and daily life of the Malaysian people. The tour was diverse in its experiences, as I got to experience the beauty of the Batu caves but also see local craftmenship in clothing and pewter designs. I enjoyed eating my first, fresh coconut too! I would not have been to find and experience these special visits without this tour, as I was travelling on my own. Many, many thanks!

Batu Caves and Lord Murugan Shrine

Following pick-up, enjoy a ride over to the Batu Caves located 8 miles away from the Malaysian city in the Gombak district. Embark on a comprehensive tour of the Caves, well-known for limestone rocks over 400 million years old, and some beautiful Hindu shrines surrounding the area.

The Caves are also Malaysia's most visited Hindu shrine, dedicated to Lord Murugan, the son of Lord Shiva. The temple's crowing glory is the gigantic statue of Lord Murugan, also the third tallest statue of a Hindu deity in the world. As you admire the surroundings, learn about the annual Hindu festival, Thaipusam, celebrated here on the full moon between January and February. For a dose of adventure, you can climb up the 272 stairs to the top of the cave entrance system and reap the reward of gorgeous city views for your efforts.

Watch Batik Craftsmen in Action

Your tour includes a stop at the famous Royal Selangor Pewter factory, where you can watch a traditional Batik painting demonstration by Batik craftsmen.
