Starring two-time Olivier Award winner and television star Ruth Wilson, The Human Voice follows the story of a woman’s complete heartbreak over a former lover. Originally written by the renowned French poet and playwright Jean Cocteau, the Human Voice was adapted to the stage by director Ivo van Hove. van Hove serves as the Artistic Director of International Theater Amsterdam since 2001 and is a Tony Award winner for A View from the Bridge. He is also well known for his work on productions such as Scenes from a Marriage and The Little Foxes.
The story goes through the heart-wrenching story of our protagonist, as she takes the final phone call with her former lover. Ruth Wilson is a critically acclaimed actress and is also a Golden Globe winner in addition to being nominated for BAFTA and Tony Awards. Her titular role in the play Anna Christie and of Stella in A Streetcar Named Desire won her two Olivier Awards.
