Step back in time and enter one of the oldest zoos in the world! The Ménagerie is a melting pot of the most interesting animals, including orangutans, lizards, snakes and more. Spot long, bushy-tailed red pandas, rare Przewalski horses, leopards, and birds right here in the center of Paris at the Ménagerie du Jardin des Plantes.
See endangered species up close - some of which you might not even have heard of. Keep a lookout for special ‘meet the keepers’ events, designed to raise awareness of the threats to our planet's biodiversity. Learn about breeding programs for endangered species, and explore the Ménagerie buildings that were built in the 19th century. Some of the oldest ones include the Bear Pit (1805) and the Rotonde (1802-1812). A visit to the Ménagerie is tons of fun for the entire family!
