Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto
With a sound that is both Russian and European, this concerto written by Tchaikovsky is one of the best-known violin concertos and is often cited as one of the most technically difficult works for the violin. Tchaikovsky wrote this concerto in Clarens, Switzerland as recovered from the depression brought on by his failing marriage to Antonina Miliukova.
Alena Baeva
One of the brightest stars of violin playing today, Alena Baeva is fast emerging as one of the finest violinists of her generation. Having worked as a soloist with the world’s most prolific orchestras and conductors, Baeva has carved out a stunning career with an amazing discography including recordings of concertos by Szymanowski, sonatas by Poulenc, and Debussy amongst others.
