Your Experience
Your Experience
Jointly organized by the Nationalmuseum, Stockholm, the National Gallery of Denmark (SMK, Copenhagen), and the Petit Palais, this exhibit is a celebration of the Golden Age of Danish Painting. Featuring merry themes like family, travels to France and Italy, bourgeois life in Copenhagen, artists at work, and sea views, the exhibition beautifully illustrates an artistic period that evokes, in the minutest detail, a fascination with the world. In addition to showcasing paintings by leading artists of the time (Christoffer Eckersberg, Christen Købke, Martinus Rørbye, and a host of others), the exhibition is backed by years of thorough research, and it also attempts to offer a comprehensive analysis of the socio-economic and political conditions of the time.
