Victoria is an amazing, informative and friendly guide. The timing was perfect and the transportation picked us up and dropped us off in a timely fashion. It was the right balance between being part of an organized excursion and having free time to wonder around. Victoria suggested good excursions options and restaurants reccomendations. My mother and I enjoyed the tour and highly recommend it.

We dd have a bit of a mix up with the starting location of the tour, but the staff was helpful and our tour guide, Lana waited for us. Lana was very knowledgeable and approachable. She welcomed all of our questions and advised us on the best way for us to experience the tour.

The guide (Marc) has explained many things, however, having been a holiday I think we could have spent more time in the enclosure, since the time of departure (9:15 + the hour of travel to get to Montserrat) is little time to be in the enclosure. Besides we were in line for half an hour to go to see the virgin and it was time that we could have used to see more things, when you book a tour with tickets "without queue".

Montserrat in all its glory

With the tour starting early, you will arrive at Montserrat long before the monastery and basilica get crowded. As you travel to the spiritual sanctuary from Barcelona in a private vehicle, your guide will explain the significance and history of the place. The infectious mystical aura of the mountain-top monastery is almost immediately apparent when you step out of your bus. Take a moment to soak in the breathtaking view of the Pyrenees, the Mediterranean, and the magnificent Gothic architecture of the Benedictine monastery.

Montserrat with a guide

Head into the basilica to see the famous Black Madonna of Montserrat, a Romanesque wooden statue that is fabled to have been unmovable, thus forcing the Benedictine monks of the time to build the basilica around it. After the guided tour, you will have some time to explore the area on your own! You can choose to go on a short hike or take the cable car through the mountains. Alternatively, if you are more fascinated by the history and culture of the place, you can visit the local Museum of Contemporary Art. Sample some of the local delicacies before heading back to Barcelona in your air-conditioned bus.

Wheelchairs and motorized scooters cannot be accommodated on the group tours since access to lifts and ramps is limited.
The Basilica in Montserrat expects visitors to follow a dress code. Flip-flops, tank tops, and shorts are not allowed. Knees and shoulders must be covered for both men and women.
