The Last Five Years - Tickets

Written by Jason Robert Brown, The Last Five Years premiered in 2001 at the Northlight Theatre in Chicago. It won a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Music and Lyrics the following year and has continued to win several accolades ever since. The musical tells the intimate tale of the five-year relationship of Cathy and Jamie, a couple living in New York. The events in Jamie’s life are in chronological order, while Cathy’s story is told backward. Although the entire musical is centered around their love affair, the two characters meet in only one of the scenes in the middle - their wedding scene.

This much-loved musical by Jason Robert Brown has become a cult classic owing to the unique way in which the story is presented. Songs such as ‘Still Hurting’ and ‘I Could Never Rescue You’ are some of the show’s most hauntingly beautiful and memorable songs. The Last Five Years is directed by Jonathan O’Boyle, who steered the previous Southwark Playhouse run to a resounding success that won two Offie Awards. He is joined by choreographer Sam Spencer-Lane and set designer Lee Newby. Molly Lynch and Stage Debut Award nominee Oli Higginson will be reprising their roles as Cathy and Jamie in this fabulous new production.
