Originally written by Jane Austen, this 19th-century romance story by Jane Austen sees a 21st-century makeover with a modern soundtrack. Adapted by James Yeatman and Jeff James, this Jane Austen classic is all set to play at West End for a little over 3 weeks, with limited performances. The soundtrack features hits from Dua Lipa, Frank Ocean, and Cardi B, and moves away from grand ballrooms to neon-lit dance floors while keeping all the wit and intriguing scandal of the original.
Anne’s first love was Frederik Wentworth. He proposed to her 8 years earlier, when he was a relatively unremarkable man. She turned him down following the advice of her family, but she never really put him out of her mind. Wentworth returns to town as a celebrated Captain in the navy. He is now a rich and successful man and the perfect bachelor. Anne and Wentworth are brought together by chance, and Anne is forced to make peace with her decision. Will Wentworth be able to forgive Anne, and will she finally follow her heart?
The play stars Sasha Frost and Fred Fergus in the lead roles. Frost is known for her performances in Cherry Orchard, All My Sons, Red DustRoad, and Folk. Fergus is best known for his stage roles in Julius Caesar, Lava, and Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, as well as the blockbuster movie, Wonder Woman.
