Why Watch David Walliams' Billionaire Boy

David Walliams needs no introduction. His success as an actor, writer, comedian, and British television star is unrivaled. Over 25 million copies of his children’s books have been sold worldwide and continue to be read to this day. With a writing style that is closely associated with the iconic Roald Dahl, Walliams’ tremendously successful stories including Awful Auntie and Gangsta Grandma have already taken the stages of London by storm.

Published in October 2010 by HarperCollins and authored by David Walliams, Billionaire Boy has risen to become one of Britain’s most loved children’s fictions. It went on to be broadcasted on BBC television in January 2016 after receiving a slew of 5-star reviews. This stage adaptation of the book will be presented at London’s Garrick Theatre this winter, bringing all of Walliams’ characters to life on stage for the first time.

    The Story

When a factory worker named Leonard Spud invents a new kind of toilet paper, he finds immediate success and becomes a billionaire overnight. With millions of orders coming in every day, Mr. Spud is unsure of how his money should be spent. As a result, he goes on a purchasing spree and buys massive televisions, luxurious cars, and glamorous gifts for his girlfriend Sapphire Stone. Unfortunately, not much has changed for Spud’s son Joe, who is compelled to fend for himself at his local school. With his friend Bob beside him, Joe fights off school bullies and forces repulsive canteen food down his throat. Can Joe impress Lauren, the new girl at school? What is she hiding? Can money truly purchase happiness?

The theatre staff were amazing, extremely helpful. The theatre facilities (toilets etc) were clean and well stocked with toilet paper. The show itself was AMAZING from start to finish; my grandson (12) and gradaughter (9) both loved it and were "spell bound" my daughter aged 34 thoroughly enjoyed it and me, grandma thought it was FABULOUS, so three generations and we all had a FANTASTIC time-Thank-you-
