Italian art and architecture have had a substantial influence on a large part of the world. Beginning with the Romans in the 1st century BC, Italy has always been at the forefront of architectural innovations and in constructing masterpieces. From the Colosseum, the Pantheon and the aqueducts in Rome to the Pisa Cathedral, Milan Cathedral and the city of Florence, Italy has consistently been home to some of the most popular tourist attractions in the world.
The city of Lucca is well known for the walls built around the old town during the Renaissance. Several churches and attractions can be found in this quiet little city. Pisa also abounds with exciting sights. The bell tower of the Pisa Cathedral, famously known as the Leaning Tower of Pisa, is its most famous attraction.

You will leave from Florence in the morning and the first stop will be in the city of Lucca. The 16th-Century walls continue to stand to this day and you will get a chance to walk along with them. You will then reach the renowned historical centre of the city of Lucca. The most notable square, the Piazza dell'Anfiteatro is an ancient Roman amphitheatre. It is dotted with numerous beautiful cafes and surrounded by private residences. The Guinigi Tower is a medieval structure built in red brick. The rooftop garden with Holm oaks gives the tower an old-fashioned, yet charming appearance. The Lucca Cathedral with its tall arcades and sculptures is another example of Romanesque architecture. You will then enjoy a pastry tasting at a local cafe.
After a small break, you will leave for Pisa. Known for its numerous masterpieces, Pisa is also home to some of the best-known landmarks in the world, such as the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Pisa Cathedral. You will walk through the Piazza Dei Miracoli and be awestruck by the magnificence of the square. You will also get a chance to see the interiors of the Pisa Cathedral. As soon as you set foot inside the cathedral, the grandeur of the surroundings is sure to strike you. The inside of the dome depicts Virgin Mary, painted in a rare 'encaustic' style. White marble with black marble inserts are present in the naves and the massive grey marble Corinthian columns give the Cathedral a regal appearance. The wooden coffered ceiling is decorated and painted with gold leaf. The pulpit, created by Giovanni Pisano, is one of the most detailed in the world. It is considered a masterpiece of Italian Gothic architecture and is a must-see on your list. Others attractions include the relics of Saint Rainerius, the tomb of Holy Roman Emperor Henry VII, the Serassi Organ, and numerous other paintings. Your tour will end with a visit to the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Baptistery.
