Getting Around In Dubai

The best way to maneuver in Dubai is through their public transport. The metro railways and buses cover almost every spot on the city’s map. These are cheap and convenient. Most metro stations have buses plying from the station to destinations around them.

In case public transportation is not your cup of tea, you can hire cabs that will be more expensive. Alternatively, you can also rent a car in Dubai.

Dubai Metro

The easiest way to get around the city, the red and green metro lines will take you through and through. To avail the metro services you will need to buy an NOL card or an NOL ticket. This card can be recharged according to your travel plans and different card plans are also available depending upon your usage.

Dubai Bus

Your NOL card will also give you access to the local bus services in Dubai. 35 bus lines have been set up only for plying between several metro stations.

The bus network covers 82% of the city’s area and consists of 8 fast lines, 12 intercity lines and 119 network lines in total.

One of the cheapest and convenient ways to get around the city.

Dubai Tram

The Dubai Tram was inaugurated in 2014 and runs a distance of 14.5 kilometers across 11 stations. Your NOL card will be your access way into availing the tram services.

Dubai Taxi

Hiring a cab in Dubai is easy since taxis ply 24 hours, 7 days a week. You can either stop them when you see one, call on their dispatch number: +971-4-2080808 or send them an email on dispatch@dtc.gov.ae.

Taxis are available at a first come first serve basis from the airport and do not need to be pre-booked for Dubai airport transfers.

Taxi Fare

The starting fare for a cab plying within the city is 10 dh. Your journey is free of cost, if the meter is not switched on.

From the airport, the starting meter charge is 20 dh. The meter charges will vary during night and day time.

It is advisable to book a cab from the street rather than the dispatch centre, since cabs hired through dispatch centers will start at a higher minimum charge.

Taxis for Women And Families

If travelling alone or late a night, there is a special branch of the Dubai taxi, where in the cars are driven by female drivers. You can either call their dispatch centre at: 04 2080808 or get picked up at the Dubai International Airport.

Car Rental
