This walking tour through Palermo brings you the city's arocrastic highlights and Baroque-style elements. You'll be guided by an expert, local tour guide who will point out interesting facts, note-worthy attractions, and answer all your questions. Walk towards Palazzo Alliata di Villafranca, one of the richest residences of Palermo's aristocracy. Pass by beautifully-restored halls and admire the artpiece "Christ Crucified" by Flemish-Baroque artist, Antoon Van Dyck. At Piazza Bellini, you'll be greeted by the 12th century domes of San Cataldo and discover the Church of Santa Maria dell'Ammiraglio, where Baroque and other middle age styles coexist peacefully among stunning mosaics of the Norman period.
As you walk through the Guilds of Artisans and Judges alleys, gaze out at the Church of Santa Caterina, a landmark only recently returned to the city. This church, for centuries, had been a place for young cloistered nuns. Notice the terrace of Palazzo Gangi, where "The Leopard" by Visconti was filmed. Admire the small square decorated by the rose window of the San Francesco D'Assisi church. Smell the ficus magnolioides at the Garibaldi Garden before concluding your walk in the old port la Cala.
