Meet Me At Dawn Tickets

Set for a limited run in October and November at the Arcola Theatre, Meet Me At Dawn is a critically acclaimed and widely loved theatrical piece. The show won much acclaim for its world premiere at the Edinburgh International Festival in 2017. Five-time Fringe First Award-winning playwright and director Zinnie Harris wrote Meet Me At Dawn as the second instalment in a three-part series in 2017.

The other two performances, The Restless House and Rhinoceros were also well-received by fans and critics alike. Her incredible contribution to British theatre earned her a fellowship at the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 2018. Harris is also a recipient of two Critics Awards for Theatre in Scotland in 2017 and 2018.

At its heart, Meet Me At Dawn is a short play that efficaciously captures the essence of a singular idea - What would we do if we had another chance to talk to a loved one who is not with us anymore? The set, a single rock (the island) surrounded by a mysterious fog, serves to accentuate the events on stage. Each area of the stage is set aside to represent a particular theme. Since Meet Me At Dawn will only run for a limited time in London, book your tickets early to avoid missing this beautiful play.

The Story

The play opens with a scene depicting two young women washed up on a bare rock, accompanied only by the sound of crashing waves. Helen and Robyn have been victims of a boating accident, and fortunately, they seem to have survived. The couple spend a few minutes talking about the events that led up to the crash and how they could have been sipping on hot soup back at home if not for the fiasco. Robyn, however, is not as calm as Helen. She is constantly haunted by visions of an alternate reality in which her girlfriend met with a different fate in the boat accident.

It soon becomes apparent that Robyn is struggling to cope with the morbid truth of the accident. She realises that a day is the most she will be given to stay with her friend, and Robyn is forced to gather her feelings and come to terms with the truth. A scintillating iteration of the Orpheus and Eurydice trope, Meet Me At Dawn is a breathtaking symphony of true love and longing; an unmatched poetic exploration of the nature of human bonds!
