What better way to immerse yourself into the local culture than by food! This half-day afternoon tour with the popular Jeding Bali Cooking class ensures you don’t just learn how to make a basic dish, but understand the cultural value it holds in Bali. Your tour begins at a traditional Balinese market, where you’ll roam about between local vendors and pick up the necessary ingredients you’ll need to concoct the perfect dish (or in this case, 9 perfect dishes).
You’ll also take a short trek through the beautiful rice paddy fields to understand the UNESCO-recognized water irrigation system in place, known as Subak, used for growing rice in Bali. Finally, at the Jeding Bali housing compound, throw on your chef hats, and let the cooking expedition begin! As you work with fresh herbs, local species, and raw ingredients, your instructor will take you through the entire process step-by-step. You’ll then enjoy the labor of your teachings by devouring the dishes, letting you appreciate Balinese cuisine (and culture) on an intimate level!
