Had two amazing tours with Headout - the guides were funny, friendly and enthusiastic and really brought the places to life. So glad I booked tours - I would have missed so much without them! Highly recommend.

Very informative and I think we saw ALL of the sights at Herculaneum. What an awesome place to visit and go back in time! The guide was exceptionally knowledgeable but at no point did she say she was an archaeologist and could well have been just a tour guide, which made me question whether she was indeed an archaeologist. If she wasn't, why advertise the tour was with an archaeologist? There was a lot of hanging around before we started, despite checking in 15 minutes before. We weee just ready to go when we had to wait for my two children to get children tickets, and THEN the whole group was told they had to check in their bags despite others having larger rucksacks than us. Didn't seem fair and seemed a waste of time. But these were logistical problems, easy to fix. We really enjoyed the experience, and it kept the kids entertained for over 2 hours! Thank you.

We would have liked to have been able to choose at the end of the tour whether we really wanted to have a 90-minute lunch break or use the time on our own in Pompeii. Which we would have liked to do in order to go to the other area that we had not yet seen. The meeting point for the onward journey could have been shown beforehand. It would also have been nice to have been given a map of Pompeii.

Antonella was a terrific guide; she made Herculaneum come alive with her descriptions and information. Super enjoyable tour. We loved it. Brilliant!

Visit the ancient town of Herculaneum that overlooks the Gulf of Naples on this guided venture alongside an expert archaeologist. Renowned for its splendid archaeological Roman excavations, you're in for a real treat. Legend has it that Herculaneum was founded by the mythological hero, Hercules! Born of the archaic age, this city has evident Samnite, Greek, Etruscan influences, with an overriding Roman presence. Alas, this city (along with Pompeii) was destroyed by the same eruption of Vesuvius in 79AD.

These excavations were included in the UNESCO World Heritage site list in 1997. Your tour lets you explore this unique site, the unique distribution of houses, the monumental basilica, the grand spa complex, the gymnasium, and more. A walk through the ancient city lets you see bronze parts and the elevations of the houses, conservation of woods, and the various styles of Vesuvian paintings. All the while, your expert archaeologist will engage you with captivating anecdotes, secrets, and stories about this world-famous attraction.
