Enjoy French art and architecture under one dome!

Hidden amidst the usual tourist frenzy of Paris lies an 18th-century architectural gem – the Pantheon, built by Soufflot. Inside, you'll be greeted by the building's unique cross-shaped design with a panel of thick pillars cushioning the smaller saucer-shaped domes. Your guide will lead you through the towering walls, decorated with mosaics and vibrant frescoes of French history by the artist, Eugène Delacroix.

A blend of Neoclassical and Gothic architecture styles

Perched atop the sacred hill Montagne Sainte-Geneviève is the large dome of the Pantheon with kaleidoscope-like carvings. Here, you’ll see neoclassical and Gothic architectural styles that were all the rage in the 18th and 19th centuries. As you look around, you’ll see stunning sculptures and paintings of wars like Clovis and Charlemagne of French history pictured on the walls. In 1851, Leon Foucault swung a giant iron pendulum at the church, proving that the Earth spins on its axis! Science geeks, you can catch its replica at the Pantheon.

The final resting place for French icons

As you make your way to the back of the building, you’ll descend into the crypt, an underground burial chamber that covers the entire surface of the building. Here lay the tombs of French literary and scientific icons like Voltaire, Victor Hugo, and Marie Curie, the first woman to be buried here. Top off your Pantheon tour with a dome climb and take in the stunning panoramic views of the Paris cityscape.
