Great Opera Hits - Opera at the Sydney Opera House
Head to the Sydney Opera House for an evening of iconic opera hits ranging from Rossini’s The Barber of Seville to Puccini’s Nessun Dorma. Great Opera Hits is set to be one of the top shows this season!
Why Watch Great Opera Hits
The show features some of the most recognizable stars in the Australian Opera scene, performing some of the greatest hits of all time! Great Opera Hits stays true to its name and does not disappoint as it takes you through the comical staccato of the Barber of Seville and the tragic drones of Delibes’ Flower Duet from Lakme.
Great Opera Hits also includes famous pieces by Rossini, Bizet, Puccini, and Delibes. The beautiful flowing vocals that express Musetta’s desire to reclaim the love of Marcello in Quando m'en vo' (Musetta’s Waltz from La Boheme) is perfectly captured by the orchestra. The comradery and loyalty of Nadir and Zurga are brought out expertly by the subtle interplay of tenor and baritone in Au fond du temple saint from George Bizet’s 1863 Les pêcheurs de Perles. The mellow and soulful Nessun Dorma from Turandot and the exciting crescendos of The Barber of Seville are also part of the show’s incredible list of memorable pieces.
