Your day in San Francisco will begin near the architecturally stunning Ferry Building, which was once the world's busiest port. Hop on the famous San Francisco Cable Car after meandering around and visiting the city's old port with the views of Treasure Island and the Bay Bridge, the same bridge that fell in 1989 due to an earthquake. Skip the long lines and board the train from the "in-the-know" stop. As you approach near the hills of San Franciso, the Financial District's stores will recede and the luxurious residences of Nob Hill will emerge.
At Nob Hill, learn about the industrialists who helped in the transformation of the city in the earlier days as you walk inside Grace Cathedral, which has a beautiful Gothic interior and a treasure trove of creative items, including a slew of stained glass windows. While coming back down the hill, you’ll reach Chinatown, a lively, culturally rich district. Your local guide will guide you around the most dynamic spaces and lesser-known sites in the area. Visit the Tin How Temple and also, the Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory for an inside look at fortune cookie production! Take some time to eat lunch in Chinatown or North Beach's flourishing Italian quarter and reunite with your guide at a pub or a bar frequented by the revolutionary Beat Poets.
Take in the breathtaking views as your bay cruise makes its approach to the Golden Gate Bridge with the sun beaming on its way west. Sail past Pier 39's famous sea lions, beneath the Golden Gate Bridge (Instagrammers, brace yourselves! ), and back with a circuit around Alcatraz Island, the closest you can approach without a real ticket.
