Prague served as the seat of power to several Holy Roman Emperors and the Kings of Bohemia from the 12th century to the 15th century. The convergence of diverse architectures and cultures has filled the city with stunning monuments in every nook and cranny. The entire city is a wonderful mix of past and present, with contemporary buildings in the newer regions and Gothic and Romanesque-inspired structures in the relatively archaic areas such as Old Town.

Built in the late part of the 14th century, the Charles Bridge was one of the most important structures to have been made by the renowned King Charles IV. An archetypal Gothic-style building, it is an astonishing 621 metres long. Adorned with 30 statues and statuaries in the Baroque style, it makes for a breathtaking sight. Being one of the most important connections between the Prague Castle and the Old Town, the bridge was one of the most used trade routes between eastern and western Europe.

The St. Nicholas Church, one of the other major attractions in this walking tour, is a Baroque church established in 1704 in dedication to Saint Nicholas. Often described as the most impressive example of the Baroque style of architecture in Prague, the interior of the dome is magnificent to behold. With frescoes covering the entire underside of the 70-metre-high dome, the interior also abounds in sculptures. One of Mozart’s finest compositions, the Mass in C, was first performed at the St. Nicholas Church.

You will surely enjoy the Old Town of Prague; a town that has existed since the 9th century. Initially, it was surrounded by a huge moat. It served as the capital city of a vast empire, and was one of the most important Central European towns. The moat and the wall were dismantled, and the city was expanded, thus forming the stepping stones to the sprawling metropolis that Prague presently is.

The perfect tourist destination for history and art lovers, Prague is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience medieval European architecture.

Your tour of Old Town Prague will begin from the Astronomical Tower in the Old Town Square. It will start from the Old Town of Prague and take you all the way to Charles Bridge and the Prague Castle.

The Old Town Hall Tower houses the famed Astronomical clock. Flanked by statues on all sides, every hour you can witness a procession lead by Jesus, followed by the Twelve Apostles. This mechanical marvel is spectacular to behold. The Old Town Hall Tower soars into the sky, and the entire city of Prague can be viewed from the top. The tour, however, does not explore its interiors. A massive door in the late Gothic style serves as the entrance to the hall.

Next, you will walk down to the Charles Bridge. The guide will pique your interest with some fascinating tales of the history of Old Town and its surrounding areas. Some famous local legends are sure to leave you amazed! As you cross the bridge, you move from Old Town to the Lesser Town region of Prague. The characteristic green dome of the St. Nicholas Church will be visible from this point.

A picturesque tram ride up the hill to the famed Prague Castle is next on the list of things to do. On the way to the castle, you will walk past the Castle District, locally known as Hradcany, while the guide provides you with more information on the region. Several palaces and monuments are present in the region, and the confluence of several styles of architecture is clearly noticeable. The size of the Prague Castle complex will leave you amazed. Located on top of a hill, you will be exposed to some of the most beautiful sights of Prague. Your guided tour will end here.
