The Story

Shakespeare’s immortal Romeo and Juliet has been converted into a neo-classical tale expressed through dance. It remains loyal to the original script in most places. Set in Verona, Italy, the story features two families, the Montague and Capulet houses, locked in a feud. Romeo, a young man from the Montague family, falls deeply in love with a woman named Juliet from the Capulet house. They marry in secret at a chapel with the help of a loyal nurse and Friar Laurence. After a series of mishaps and just one night together, the couple is torn apart by circumstances. The tale ends in tragedy, with Romeo gulping down poison at the sight of Juliet’s supposedly dead body.
