The Story
Don, played by John Godber, is a 65-year-old retired West Yorkshire miner who works as a hospital porter. He loves cycling but can’t seem to get over the loss of his wife, Jean. Jane Thornton plays Carol, a former school teacher is in her late 50s. Having failed as an artist, she runs a cycling cafe in remembrance of her husband who was a cycling enthusiast. Don and Carol find their paths cross, and before they know it, the barely acquainted decide to go cycling across Europe. However, when they are about to leave, Carol decides to call things off.
