The tour will begin with a visit to the Kerið volcanic crater. The surrounding regions are teeming with several crater lakes, of which Kerið is a favorite among visitors. The Kerið volcanic crater is believed to have been a volcano that emptied the reserves of magma and collapsed on itself. The confluence of the red lava rock at the lakebed and the blue-green water presents a breathtaking scene.

Next up is a visit to the Gullfoss Waterfall, which translates to Golden Waterfall. The unique geology of the region causes a shimmering effect as the water plunges into the canyon, which is how the famed waterfall obtained its name.

You will then get to visit the geothermal region of Haukadalur. It is also known as Geysir Geothermal area, named after one of the oldest recorded geysers in history. Believed to have been active for an astounding 10,000 years, it is one of the oldest geysers ever mentioned in print. As a result, it was the first such phenomenon people across the globe had heard of, and the word ‘geyser’ is actually derived from Geysir. You will catch sight of the massive eruption of an active geyser, Strokkur, every few minutes.

Finally, you will visit the renowned Thingvellir National Park. The crystal clear waters separating the Eurasian and American tectonic plates are a sight to behold and makes for the perfect spot for divers to explore the underwater beauty. The coalescence of a multitude of shades of blue, green and brown makes for one of the most stunning sights that you have ever witnessed.

After covering nearly 300 kilometers in 8 hours of travel, your bus tour of the Golden Circle will conclude and you will be taken back to Reykjavik.
