Horrible Histories: Barmy Britain - Part Five! Tickets

Following an immensely well-received part four, Horrible Histories: Barmy Britain - Part Five! Is set to hit Apollo Theatre in July 2020! Terry Deary’s amusing account of British history is just one amongst his impressive list of critically acclaimed books that cover a wide variety of civilizations that existed across the planet.

Why Watch Horrible Histories: Barmy Britain - Part Five!

Making history intriguing for children was the sole purpose of Deary’s legendary Horrible Histories series. First published in 1994, the publications have become wildly popular amongst children owing to their compelling narratives and hilarious illustrations. In 2000, Deary received an Honorary Doctorate of Education from the University of Sunderland for his contribution to children’s education. The books were so successful that they were converted into a cartoon show on CiTV in 2002. The live-action comedy version of the books has also been running on CBBC since 2009, with Deary himself making occasional appearances on the show until he finally retired in 2011.

Terry Deary is known for his strong views on the schooling system. He believes that it is an outdated Victorian idea that has oozed into modern society in a fundamentally flawed manner. His work, which focuses more on the narrative rather than raw facts, reflects his disdain for schooling and conventional examination systems.

    The Story

The simple fact that almost all historical figures dead make it difficult for us to meet our heroes from the past! Horrible Histories: Barmy Britain - Part Five! gives kids an opportunity to watch famous historical personalities come to life in a spectacular manner on stage. The crazy new characters and the distastefully rude monarchs from Britain’s barmy past are electrifying to watch.

You could join King William on his conquests or sink with King Henry I. Perhaps a house-hunting session with King Henry VIII would be interesting. Join the Georgians as they conquer England or break into the Buckingham Palace while hiding from the Queen of England! This is truly a show like no other!

    Critics Reviews

“While Horrible Histories might tell silly stories in a slapstick fashion and a few crass jokes here and there, the show’s quintessential British humour left me smiling from ear to ear, proving the best children’s theatre is theatre that’s for adults too.”

    – London Theatre Review

“Barmy Britain was a brilliantly fun piece of educational theatre that taught this history graduate a few new things”
