The ticketing experience was easy, purchased ticket online. Was able to locate check-in point fairly easily once I arrived to Piazza de Santa Maria delle Grazie. The tour guide provided good information. The beginning of the tour was a bit too slow after seeing The Last Supper, we had a brief toilet break that lasted too long in my opinion, the pace of the tour improved after that. As I mentioned before the guide was very informative and I learned a lot.

Santa Maria delle Grazie

Meaning ‘Holy Mary of Grace’, Santa Maria delle Grazie is a church and Dominican convent that houses the Last Supper. Built in the Medieval and Renaissance style, it is known for its intricate naves, apse, and facade designed by architects Guiniforte Solari and Donato Bramante.

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the protagonist of this work. The use of spatial elements draws the viewer’s focus onto Jesus at the center of this composition. It is said that Da Vinci artfully deployed the one-point perspective to place Jesus’s proverbial right cheek just at the vanishing point of the painting.

Judas Iscariot

The third character on the left of Jesus is Judas Iscariot, the betrayer of Jesus Christ. The painting depicts the moment that Jesus predicts his betrayal. The character of Judas is filled with allegorical and culturally significant metaphors. It is said that Da Vinci spent considerable time searching for a criminal to use his likeness for the depiction of Judas.

Giovanni Donato da Montorfano

In the same refectory you will see Giovanni Donato da Montorfano’s best-known work - ‘Crucifixion’ on the opposite wall facing Da Vinci’s The Last Supper. The painting depicts the crucifixion of Christ along with two thieves, along with a host of other details.
