why watch hacienda classical
The Hacienda Classical is a revival of the late 80s rave party scene in Manchester, England. You can witness a unique take on the club classics that include Pacific State, Voodoo Ray, and Ride on Time. Graeme Park and Mike Pickering, the original DJ duo of The Hacienda and who played a pivotal role in its success are joined by the Manchester Camerata symphonic orchestra. Although dance and classical music is something that just does not seem to work well on paper, Hacienda Classical aspires to be different and is wildly successful.
The Manchester superclub, The Hacienda was opened in 1982 and was one of the major hubs until it was closed in 1997. It is strongly associated with the rise in the rave music genre and house music and is one of the legendary clubs of England. At one point, The Hacienda was perhaps the coolest club in the world, and its influence on electronic music continues to be felt today. Discover the timeless tunes that made the Manchester club so renowned across the world. Experience an orchestral twist on soundtracks that is equally nostalgic as it is breathtaking. If you were someone who was a fan of the club in the late 80s and early 90s, this is something that you simply cannot miss!
The show includes several music legends of Manchester, DJs, vocalists and an orchestra. On first thought, you might wonder what an orchestra is doing at a venue playing club anthems from the 80s. The bizarre combination, however, works surprisingly well. Mike Pickering and Graeme Park recreate the classics that brought The Hacienda into the spotlight. Tim Crooks, the musical director, weaves together the club classics with an orchestral score. The Dubai Opera theatre is the perfect destination for a show of such a large scale, and you can be sure that a good amount of dancing will be involved as the night goes on. You will also get a chance to see Bez from the Happy Mondays perform his infamous dance to “Pump Up The Jam” that was all the rage during the days of The Hacienda. You will also see Rowetta from Happy Mondays perform a mesmerizing version of “You Got The Love”. All in all, a unique and unforgettable nightlife experience awaits you!
