Scipioni Family Tomb Walking Tour - Private Access
Know Your Tour
The Cornelii Scipiones were one of the most famous families belonging to Rome’s Republican era. The tombs were discovered by the owners of the vineyards above the complex, and once it was brought to light that the tombs, indeed, belonged to the Scipiones, it was difficult to stop the inflow of the people who came to visit it.
Get a private tour of these tombs in all their mysticity, and explore the place as your guide shows you around. You will see a square room with four large pillars centrally situated, and learn a lot more about Roman architecture and the way of life as it was in that era, the tombs having been dug out in the third century.
Bases decorated with historical paintings, the sarcophagi present inside were placed in spaces dug out especially for each one of the members around the pillars and along the walls. This promises to be nothing short of fascinating and shouldn’t be missed!
