Stepping into Giethoorn is much like stepping into a fairy tale, where canals have replaced roads and boats have replaced cars. Dubbed the Dutch Venice, Giethoorn gets its name from the discovery of a hundred goat horns (gietehorens) in the marshland, a remnant of the 10th-century flood.
