Andrew Lloyd Webber, a winner of six Tony, three Grammy, seven Olivier, and an Academy Award, composed the music for Evita, and it is considered one of the finest works of theater of the late 20th century. The musical features a range of different styles and contains choral interludes, orchestral passages, and also ballads. The musical has featured across the world, with productions in Italy, Brazil, Mexico, Spain, Australia in addition to numerous touring productions. Despite being one of the most staged musicals in the world, director Sammi Cannold does a stellar job in adding her unique touch to the story of Eva Peron. The Story
15-year old Eva Duarte, who lives in the town of Junin longs for a better life in Buenos Aires. She falls in love with Agustin Magaldi, a tango singer, and persuades him to take her with him to Buenos Aires. On arriving at the capital, she leaves Magaldi and quickly rises up the social ladder to become a model, actress, and radio star.
She meets Colonel Juan Domingo Peron, an ambitious colonel who is rising up the political ladder, and tells him that she can help him rise to power. Soon, she marries Peron, and he launches his presidential bid. Will Peron go on to be elected President following Eva’s meticulous planning? Will Eva finally have attained her goal of achieving fame and glory?
