The Story
The story is set in the year 1937. America and the rest of the world continue to feel the effects of the Wall Street Crash of 1929. The London Stock Exchange had crashed a month prior, and the American stock market crash was the beginning of a 12-year period during which all the industrialized countries were greatly affected economically. In one African American community, the effects of the aftermath of the Great Depression can be seen. Tensions rise and tempers flare as every family struggles to survive through these hard times. One woman, Amanda Wingfield, refuses to be bogged down by circumstances. She is determined that her children will not lead the impoverished life that she had to endure. Follow the compelling story of Amanda, as she fights to improve life for herself and her family.
