The Ellis Island Immigrant Hospital opened in 1902 and served as a detention facility for new immigrants who were deemed unfit to enter the United States after their arrival. The south side of Ellis Island had remained off-limits to the general public since its closing in 1930 until it opened In October 2014 for small group hard hat tours.

This excursion will take you through select areas of the abandoned 750-bed Ellis Island Hospital Complex. This will include the second floor of both the Contagious Disease Wards (used for the treatment of PTSD during WWII) and Administration Building.
