Karlovy Vary, also known as Carlsbad is a town situated in western Bohemia, in the Czech Republic. Founded by the eminent King Charles IV, it is a spa town that is well-known for its hot springs. An astounding 300 small springs and 13 main springs are located in this town. These hot springs are widely acclaimed for their mysterious healing and curative properties and are visited by several well-known celebrities across the world.
Apart from the hot springs, several famous churches are present in this town. They include the Catholic Church of St. Mary Magdalene, the Orthodox Saint Peter and Paul Cathedral, the Church of St. Anne and many more.
One of the highlights in the town is the Moser glass factory. The Moser factory in Karlovy Vary is renowned around the world for their unique Moser handmade glassworks. On the day of the tour, you will be picked up at your hotel room. Show your mobile voucher with a valid photo ID. The trip begins from the Parking Na Příkopě 23, Prague 1 at 9 AM. The entire tour will be for about 9.5 hours. An approximately 2 hour journey through splendid farmlands and forests will follow, allowing you to experience the beauty of the Bohemian countryside and landscape.
Once you arrive at Karlovy Vary, you will visit the famed Moser factory. Here you can see what makes the Moser glassworks so highly praised. Witness the shaping and blowing of the products as they slowly form appealing shapes, as a strong smell of burnt wooden moulds floods the room. A museum showcasing some of the eye-catching glassworks is also present inside.
After visiting the factory, you will be taken to the centre of the town, where a 12 metre geyser, Vřídlo can be seen. It is the source of the town’s thermal water. Shooting water that is nearly 72 degrees Centigrade, you can feel the warmth standing a few feet away. 2000 litres are shot up in the span of a minute and make for a spectacular sight. You can purchase various souvenirs that are available here, which claim to have several medicinal properties. Next on the itinerary is a savoury lunch at a local restaurant. Once your hunger is satisfied and your energy replenished, you are free to explore the town on your own. Karlovy Vary is known for brewing a special type of liqueur known as Becherovka, made from a secret recipe of herbs and spices, and anyone looking for unique experiences must try it out.
