The Secret Room, a one-of-a-kind collection, has 250 sexually themed objects discovered during the excavations at Pompeii and Herculaneum. Earlier, some of the displays and artifacts were considered "obscene" and "pornographic", and consequently banned and isolated from the other collections. In 2000, it was eventually reopened to the public.

Egyptian Collection

With more than 2,500 objects on exhibit, the Museum has one of the biggest collections of ancient Egyptian artefacts outside of Egypt. The Charta Borgiana, a prehistoric papyrus, and The Lady of Naples,  which also happens to be the oldest objects in the collection, are some of the most well-known items. The Naoforo Farnese, a basalt sculpture that shows a man kneeling on a base with bent arms, is another.

Mosaics

This museum features a beautiful collection of mosaics, the majority of which were found in Pompeii and other Vesuvian cities. The Alexander Mosaic, which depicts the illustrious Alexander the Great against Darius III of Persia in 100 BC, and another work of art depicting a gladiator battle are among the most well-known pieces of artwork.

Marble Sculptures

The Farnese Collection is among this museum's most well-known holdings. The collection's objects were bought by Cardinal Alessandro Farnese, who later rose to the position of Pope Paul III. The Toro Farnese, a beautiful sculpture cut from a single block of marble, showing the demise of Dirce, Queen of Thebes, and Ercole Farnese, a commanding marble statue of Hercules reclining over his weapon, are two outstanding items from this group.

Pompeii Collection

Numerous artifacts and relics from the historic city of Pompeii are on display in the museum. The variety of historical epigraphs, sensual artwork, and stunning frescoes are some of the most notable items. In addition, there is a scale model of the city and area where the Temple of Isis is located.
