Museum Of The Future: The Exteriors<\/h2>\n

The Museum of Future is a futuristic, glass-walled building that features exhibits about the future of technology, climate change, energy, and healthcare. <\/p>\n

The Design and Architecture of the Museum of the Future<\/h3>\n

The design of the building is definitely one of the world\u2019s most complex structures. Designed by local architecture firm, Killa Design, who won the competition in 2015, it has been created using high-tech machinery such as a computer-controlled tool to cut nearly 1000 moulds to support the outer structure.<\/p>\n

The inspiration for the torus form is inspired by \u201cFeng Shui,\u201d where the building\u2019s shape represents the earth and the sky and the empty space in the middle represents the unknown. Arabic calligraphy runs through the outer facade of the building and the smooth exteriors are a borrowed technique from the aviation industry, covered in 890 joint-free stainless steel and fibreglass panels. In fact, the calligraphy inscribed onto the exterior features quotes from the Prime Minister of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The only horizontal surfaces in the building are the floors.<\/p>\n

What Does the Arabic Calligraphy Say?<\/h3>\n

The exteriors of the Museum of the Future are inscribed with beautiful Arabic calligraphy. Rendered in the calligraphy of Mattar Bin Lahej, the building is the enveloped by 3 quotes from His Highness, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, ruler of the UAE. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe future belongs to those who can imagine, design, and execute it,\u201d \u201cWe may not live for hundreds of years, but the products of our creativity can leave a legacy long after we are gone,\u201d and most importantly, \u201cThe future does not wait. The future can be designed and built today.\u201d<\/p>\n

These quotes are meant to inspire us to be the change we wish to see in the future and are a reminder that the future is not set in stone, and that it’s up to each of us to make it a better place.<\/p>\n

The Arabic calligraphy on the exteriors of the building also doubles as the windows of the museum. By day, they cast dappled light throughout the column-free interior; at night, they are illuminated by nearly 4 kilometres of LED lighting.<\/p>\n

Inside the Museum of the Future Dubai<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n

The Museum of the Future building is said to have 6 levels and a museum <\/b>which will be connected by an elevated walkway to the Metro station, as well as a bridge linking to the Emirates Towers. In fact, the only horizontal surfaces in the building are the floors!<\/p>\n

The Atrium<\/h3>\n

The Atrium is the first thing the visitors of the museum will see. The bright white space has a warm ambience, lit by natural light that falls into the building through the calligraphy windows. In fact, the calligraphy panels act as windows throughout the buildings, and were constructed using cutting-edge tech. Manufactured entirely by robots, each plate of the now iconic calligraphy is composed of four layers\u2014each layer created through a 16-step process. A space-shuttle simulation will take you up to the rest of the floors!<\/p>\n

The Makeshift Space Station<\/h3>\n

Starting from the fifth floor, you can begin to explore the futuristic museum. The elevator, a makeshift space station, will take you up to the Chapter 1: OSS Hope. One of the appeals of the museum is that it counts on you – as a visitor – to use your imagination and doesn’t bear any labels anywhere!<\/p>\n
