The original venue, called the Prince Theatre, was built by C.J. Phillips in 1884, with a seating capacity of just over 1000 people. The theatre was renamed Prince of Wales the same year. The theatre’s auditorium is decked out in a 1930’s Art Deco style, stemming from the theatre’s reopening in 1937. The interior tends to follow colour themes of cream, ivory. and gold which highlight the traditional red velvet seating within the auditorium. Being one of the oldest theatres in London, Prince of Wales has seen its fair share of notable productions. Some of the memorable productions include It’s Magic, South Pacific, Aspects of Love, West Side Story, Rent, The Witches of Eastwick, Mamma Mia!, and Let It Be.

Presently, Prince of Wales Theater is hosting the 2013 West End production of The Book of Mormon, which made its mega successful debut on Broadway in 2011 before moving to West End. Written by the creators of the cult TV hit South Park, The Book of Mormon has established itself as one of London’s most popular musicals. The show arrived in London to instant success, winning four Olivier Awards including Best New Musical.

Venue Details

Address: Coventry St, London W1D 6AS, UK

Opened: 1884

Seating Capacity: 1132Stalls : 679Circle : 453

Seating ChartCheck out the Prince of Wales Theatre London Seating Plan here.

Now Playing At The Prince of Wales Theatre

Grab the best seats at Prince of Wales Theatre and save £7 on your first booking.
