Formerly known as Henry Miller’s Theatre, the Stephen Sondheim Theatre is a popular Broadway venue located at 124 West 43rd Street. The theatre opened on 1st April 1918 with the play \u201cThe Fountain of Youth\u201d. The first air-conditioned theatre in Manhattan, Stephen Sondheim Theatre was designed by architects Paul R. Allen and Ingalls & Hoffman. <\/p>\n

Henry Miller, an American actor and producer, built the theatre and named it after himself. Miller’s son sold the theatre to the Nederlander Organization in 1966, who sold it to Seymour Durst. After many years of being passed around, including a slint as a club entitled Kit Kat Club, the theatre was acquired by the Roundabout Theatre Company in 2007.<\/p>\n

Stephen Sondheim Theatre has hosted many notable productions, including The Country Wife, Witness for the Prosecution, Cabaret, Bye Bye Birdie, Anything Goes, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical<\/a> and many others.<\/p>\n

Orchestra<\/strong>: The Orchestra is on the main level of the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, with an elevator serving the other levels to make access easy for wheelchair users. Rows J to U are stepped, although the rest of the section is flat.Mezzanine<\/strong>: The Stephen Sondheim Theatre Mezzanine is located one floor above the Orchestra, with an elevator serving the section for easy access. Once inside, there are usually two steps down to each row.<\/p>\n
