Broadway\u2019s hit musical Wicked surpasses Les Miserables to become the fifth longest-running production in Broadway history. Wicked had its 6681st<\/sup> performance on 28th<\/sup> October.<\/h3>\n

Broadway\u2019s hit musical Wicked, with its 6681st performance on 28th October, has now become the fifth longest-running production in Broadway history, beating Les Miserables<\/a>. The musical also celebrated its 16th anniversary on 30th October, after having performed in over a hundred cities in several countries, and even being translated into six languages. Wicked is a prequel to The Wizard of Oz<\/a>, in which the story explores what happened in the Land of Oz from a different angle.<\/p>\n

Long before Dorothy\u2019s time, lived another girl born with emerald-green skin. She is smart, fiery, and misunderstood with an extraordinary talent. She meets a bubbly blonde who is exceptionally popular. Their initial rivalry blossoms into the unlikeliest of friendships, until the world labels one \u201cgood,\u201d and the other one \u201cwicked.\u201d With a thrilling score that includes the hits \u201cDefying Gravity,\u201d \u201cPopular\u201d, and \u201cFor Good,\u201d Wicked has been hailed by The New York Times as \u201cthe defining musical of the decade.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Broadway cast currently includes Hannah Corneau as Elphaba, Ginna Claire Mason as Glinda, Nancy Opel<\/a> as Madame Morrible, Michael McCormick as The Wizard, Jake Boyd as Fiyero, Riley Costello as Boq, Jamie Jackson as Doctor Dillamond, and Gizel Jim\u00e9nez as Nessarose. Based on the novel ‘Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West’ by Gregory Maguire<\/a>, the show has been adapted for the stage by Winnie Holzman<\/a>, with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz<\/a>. <\/p>\n
