Andrew Llyod Webber’s iconic musical Starlight Express is all set to return to London in new immersive production, in 2024<\/h2>\n

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Starlight Express revolves around the enchanting tale of a child’s miniature train set springing to life, embarking on a thrilling journey to claim the title of the swiftest locomotive globally. Premiering at the Apollo Victoria theatre <\/a> in 1984, this theatrical production concluded its run in 2002. Remarkably, it has continued to captivate audiences for over three decades in Bochum, Germany, amassing an astounding viewership of over 20 million people.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s coming to the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre with a completely reimagined production, with one big plot twist. You are in for a brand-new thrill!<\/p>\n

Andrew Llyod Webber on the production of Starlight Express: In conversation with BBC Radio 2<\/h2>\n

Andrew Lloyd Webber shared additional details about the production during a BBC Radio 2 interview. He explained, “It\u2019s not coming back to the stage inasmuch as it is coming back all around you. People think steam is in the past, well, not any more \u2013 steam is the future! You\u2019ll find out more when you go to the show.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued, “This time we\u2019re at a space, the Troubadour, where we can do absolutely anything. So it\u2019s going to be around you, the seats will move, it\u2019s going to be a completely new experience.\u201d- so now you know what you have to look forward to!<\/p>\n

Cast and creatives: Brains behind the legendary Starlight Express<\/h2>\n

Under the direction of Luke Sheppard<\/b> (known for “The Little Big Things”), the production will feature Tim Hatley<\/b> (renowned for “Back to the Future”) as the set designer, with costume design by Gabriella Slade<\/b> (notable for “Six”). Additionally, Phillips<\/b> is an integral part of the creative team, collaborating with video designer Andrzej Goulding<\/b> (“Life of Pi”), lighting designer Howard Hudson<\/b> (“& Juliet”), and sound designer Gareth Owen<\/b> (“MJ the Musical”). The musical will also showcase fresh orchestrations and musical supervision by Matthew Brind<\/b>, complemented by innovative choreography by Ashley Nottingham<\/b> (“Pacific Overtures”). The casting conformation is still underway. <\/p>\n
