Hit Musical Hamilton Comes to the Silver Screen in 2021!

Disney will bring Pulitzer prize-winning musical Hamilton to theaters worldwide in 2021. It includes the original cast from the Broadway show, including Tony Award winner, Lin-Manuel Miranda.

The film was given the green signal after a record-breaking $75m acquisition deal with Walt Disney. This 160-minute film was shot in 2016, two weeks before the original cast left the Broadway show. Filmed in New York’s Richard Rodgers Theater over the course of three performances, Hamilton (the movie) brings out the best elements of live theater and film. The Broadway show first won praise for its fusion of hip-hop and pop show tunes, its racially diverse cast and its educational merit.

Hamilton tells the story of the American Revolution and the invention of the US banking system through the eyes of ambitious politician Alexander Hamilton. The original show was created by Lin-Manuel Miranda, who also wrote the book, music and lyrics, while also starring in the show. The show uses a fusion of hip-hop, jazz, R&B and other music genres to create a phenomenal work of art. Hamilton was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for drama in 2016 and has won 11 Tony awards, after which it performed in cities around the globe.
