The self-guided tour and the explanations are very good. However, instructions on how to get to the "back door" of the Acropolis were not all too clear, so if you use the main entrance, the order of the recorded tour varies a lot from the natural path you follow making it hard to understand and find your way. This is even more notorious because the GPS doesn't detect your location real time. I wish it did.

Great place, too many tourists. Many more when I was leaving. Make sure to get there EARLY - in that case you won't probably need the more expensive ticket, just get a regular one - if you get there after 11, then buy the skip-the-line one.

The booking process was very easy. It was a little confusing how to find the actual meeting spot though. The guide Sophia, was great, and she shared a lot of information on Greek history and the architecture at the Acropolis. She made it all sound very interesting for all of us. And she tried to keep us in the shade whenever possible. It was an amazing learning experience to see everything in person!

Parthenon

The Parthenon was a temple constructed in honour of the Greek goddess Athena Parthenon. It is regarded as the quintessence of Doric architecture, with intricate carvings, mosaics, and marble columns. It was first utilised as a cathedral before being turned into a mosque. Various repair operations have been undertaken over the years to keep this renowned monument of Greek history in good condition.

Erechtheion

The Erechtheion is a sacred temple built in honour of Greek gods and goddesses, including Athena, between 421 and 406 BCE. It was named after the mythical ruler Erectheus. Its majestic ionic building can still be seen today, shared with the Old Temple of Athena and the Pandroseion. The six Caryatids are the highlight of a visit to this site.

Temple of Athena Nike and Propylaea

When you enter the Acropolis, the first thing you'll see is the Propylaea. It serves as the main entrance to the sanctuary (dedicated to Athena), and is dominated by six tall marble and limestone columns. The Temple of Athena Nike is a traditional place of worship established in honour of the city's protector between 426 and 421 BCE; the prominent edifice is directly adjacent to the Propylaea.

Odeon of Herodes Atticus

The Odeon of Herodes, erected in 161 AD, is relatively new in comparison to the other ancient structures on the Acropolis. This huge landmark was designed as a theatre and can hold up to 5,000 people. It was built in honour of Herodes Atticus' wife and is almost entirely made of stone. This theatre is still used as a concert and event venue today.

Acropolis Museum

The Acropolis Museum is an archaeological museum dedicated to housing and displaying the findings from the Acropolis of Athens' archaeological site. It was established to house every relic discovered on the Acropolis Hill and the adjacent slopes, from the Greek Bronze Age to Roman and Byzantine Greece.
