Experience a show overflowing with colour, rich history, and the core traditional values of Spain at the Gran Gala Flamenco.
The Palau de La Música Catalana is representative of the cultural and social life of Catalonia, its concert venue having earned the title of World Heritage Site by the UNESCO in ’97. Its facade is decorated with a sculptural group that symbolises the Catalan folk song music.
A tripartite Spanish art form that involves the guitar (guitarra), song (cante), and dance (baile); the flamenco was born in Andalusia in the 18th century, a musical outlet that was reserved for the most intense moments of celebration in life. The cante involves the synthesis of at least four cultures: the Gypsies; the Moors (or Arabs); the Jews; and the indigenous Andalusians, and is beautifully complemented by the dance and guitar playing simultaneously, accompanied by rhythmic punctuation involving hand claps (the toque de palmas).
