Why You Shouldn’t Miss This

The largest art museum in the Arabian Peninsula, Louvre Abu Dhabi is spread across 24,000 square meters and has a viewing gallery size of 8,000 square meters. This museum cost €600 million to complete and showcases art from the Eastern and Western world. Promoting this cross-cultural integration, the Louvre was inaugurated on the 8th of November 2017 and is considered to be the only ‘Universal Museum in the Arab World.’

The Louvre Abu Dhabi is a new cultural beacon that seeks to harmonize different cultures and celebrates the achievements of artists from all around the globe. The architecture, designed by world renowned architect Jean Nouvel, is a spectacular mix of French design and Arabian heritage. Inspired by the cupola, the dome is a complex geometric structure of 7,850 stars in eight different layers. When light passes through this huge silvery dome, it appears to get filtered in a phenomenon called ‘rain of light’ which also adds an aura of weightlessness to the structure.
