The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show

About The Show

With their hand-painted, tissue-paper collage illustrations and distinctively simple stories, Eric Carle’s picture books for children, have captivated young readers for years. The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show, the page-to-stage hit returns to NYC for its encore run featuring puppet adaptations of four of Carle’s most beloved stories.

Created and directed by Jonathan Rockefeller, this hour-long family show is more than a faithful adaptation, it is a colourful and engaging production that brings to life some of Carle’s most loved characters. Perfect for your little ones, this production adapts: “Brown Bear, Brown Bear”, “10 Little Rubber Ducks”, “The Very Lonely Firefly”, and “The Very Hungry Caterpillar.”

Critic’s Reviews

  • “This adorable production from Australia is magical with its puppetry and the perfect first theatre show for children… The good news is parents will be just as entertained as their youngsters due to the creative sets, scarves and puppets."

-- Suzanna Bowling, Times Square Chronicles

  • "This production, which will mesmerise audience members as young as 2, doesn’t so much adapt four of Mr Carle’s picture books as animate them. You could swear that the stories’ creatures had stretched, stood up, shaken themselves and lumbered, leapt, sailed or flown off the page…”

-- Laurel Graeber, The New York Times
